Silicon carbide is a kind of hard and sharp blasting abrasive. It is extremely fast-cutting who generates a rough surface finish, like stripping oxides, removing edges. Silicon Carbide is produced in electrical internal resistance furnaces from high purity silica sand and petroleum coke.
The silicon carbide grit media is used for cleaning extremely hard surface such as tungsten carbide, glass etching or in cases whereby a deep cutting action is required to remove a thick layer of material.
